Diehard rockers may loathe their mainstream rock, but Beyond remain an inspiration for many young musicians.

The band still had an eager following when they held their final series of concerts - Beyond The Story Live 2005 - earlier this year.

This live record of their last performances before disbanding is a showcase of the band's best songs, like rock classics Papa Mama, I Am Angry, Forever Waiting and Farewell My Dreams.

Bassist Steve Wong Ka-keung, guitarist Paul Wong Koon-chung and drummer Yip Sai-wing are far from perfect technically, but their enthusiasm makes the music and lyrics - mostly composed by Wong Kar-kui - uplifting and infectious.

To the delight of many fans, the album includes sound bites of Kar-kui, the band's lead singer who died in 1993. His tragic death was a huge loss to the local music scene.

The members of Beyond have gone their separate ways, but their music has left a lasting impact.
