I REFER to the letter headlined, ''Bad attitude to dead cockroach'' (South China Morning Post, October 16), concerning a dead cockroach found inside a lunch box bought from a fast food restaurant located on the third floor of the Prince's Building, Central, Hong Kong.

We have conducted an inspection of the restaurant on October 21. However, no sign of cockroach infestation was detected on the premises. Nevertheless, advice on food hygiene was given to the food handlers of the restaurant.

Should your readers come across similar incidents in future, they may contact our district environmental hygiene offices direct or dial the department's hotline number 868 0000 so that our health inspectors on duty can take prompt action to deal with theirregularity.
