Cocker wins from pole
Reigning GT champion Jonathan Cocker won round two of the Porsche Infineon Carrera Cup Asia after starting the race in pole position to kick-start his campaign at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia yesterday.
But Cocker had to play second fiddle to C. Nattavude of SCC Racing Team after the Thai won round three at the same circuit.
The 18-year-old Cocker enjoyed his second success in the series since winning in Shanghai last September. The Gruppe M Racing driver had set a time of one minute and 7.030 seconds on the shortened 2.8km Sepang circuit in qualifying ahead of Thailand's Vuttihikorn Intraphuvasak with Malaysia's Rizal Ramli in hot pursuit.
Cocker made up for his disappointment in the opening round of the series held in the same circuit in March when he finished fifth.
Reigning champion Matthew Marsh was disappointed by qualifying fifth fastest. He had consistently put his A-Ha Racing Team car on the front row since Beijing last year. But this time Cocker and Nattavude shared the spoils.
