Set up as one of Pfizer's many community projects, its main goal is to 'help fresh graduates make up their minds about the kind of profession or industry they should join,' said Polly Cho, the director of human resources at Pfizer's Hong Kong offices.

After completing the course, participants should have a clearer idea of how a company functions, she said.

'The programme aims to assist individuals to develop a career and help them to have a look at what a genuine working situation is like. Apart from the general orientation of various functions, you'll have the chance to be attached to one of the departments, so you will get to understand their operation,' she said.

In particular, participants are given a specific project to follow, with the goal of learning how to work with - and communicate with - colleagues in the process.

'At the end, there is a self-assessment test to facilitate understanding of your character,' said Ms Cho. The aim of the test is to help reduce the false starts graduates make when picking a career. Are there any long-term opportunities?
