Serie A title adds to appeal of visitors

Organisers of next month's Grand Promenade Cup featuring Italian giants Juventus were given a huge boost after the Turin club secured their 28th Serie A title. This means it's the second time in a year that local fans will get to see the Italian league champions in action after former champions AC Milan played Kitchee in last summer's exhibition match.

Juventus will play Kitchee on June 4 and with the league title already in the bag, organisers might be able to confirm more star players to the starting line-up soon. So far, French striker David Trezeguet, Italian star Alessandro Del Piero, Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved and French defenders Lilian Thuram and Jonathan Zebina are confirmed to appear in Hong Kong.

Juventus will also play against Yokohama Marinos on June 1 and FC Tokyo on June 7 and the club's commercial director, Romy Gai, said the Italian side were looking forward to playing in the SAR.

'It's the first time that Juventus will play in Hong Kong and we are hoping a capacity crowd will attend the match and give the game more atmosphere,' said Gai. 'Originally, we were down to play only in Japan but [coach] Fabio Capello insisted that we also play in Hong Kong because he likes Hong Kong and has been here before.'
