RENOVATION of the Ocean Theatre cinema in Canton Road is due to be completed in March, slightly behind schedule.

It has been streamlined from 1,700 to 600 seats to make way for the first Asian version of Planet Hollywood, the popular eatery owned by actors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis.

Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Willis are expected to fly into the territory for the opening of the Tsim Sha Tsui complex.

A series of delays meant work did not get underway until last month.

But it is now progressing at full steam, according to the firm overseeing the project, Harriman Leasing.

The refurbishment will cost about $10 million. Hotel and Properties Ltd (HPL), the Singapore group which holds part of the Asian franchise for Planet Hollywood, said about $15 million would be spent outfitting the ground floor restaurant.

Another 14 Planet Hollywood restaurants are planned for Asia before 2000.
