Suspect held over murder of HK man
Chow Chung-yan in Shenzhen
Shenzhen police have arrested a man suspected of murdering a Hong Kong resident and scattering his body parts across the city.
The limbs and head of the victim were discovered over the past few days in the Baoan and Futian districts. They were found in the red light district of Shangshacun, in Shixiacun and near a superhighway in Baoan. Investigators believe the body parts were dumped between 4pm and 5pm.
Shenzhen police yesterday arrested a man and brought him to the dumping sites to collect more evidence.
Local residents said they were shocked by the brutality of the murder and complained of deteriorating security.
'I'm scared. ... Security here is always bad but I have never thought such a thing would happen just outside my door,' said one resident.
In Shangshacun, the body parts were found in an alley behind a restaurant.
The chef said the victim was a patron. 'He always came alone. He was friendly and often offered me cigarettes. He told me he was a Hong Kong resident,' he said.
Shenzhen police have refused to comment on the case. Authorities posted sketches of the victim around Shangshacun and Shixiacun to seek more information. The man's identity is still unknown.
