Next time you catch someone staring at you on the street, before you jump to the conclusion that they're admiring your sense of style, deflate that big head of yours, because they could be looking at you in disgust.

While good taste, or lack thereof, is a lot harder to determine in women (where clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup are considered), it is much easier for men. To find out if the man standing next to you has good taste or not, take a look at his shoes and his watch (if he is wearing neither, then back away).

Watch expert extraordinaire Georges Kern, CEO of International Watch, agrees. 'Having a nice watch is proof of good taste. Since it is the only piece of jewellery a man has, it's very important. A watch, like shoes, tells you a bit about that person. What annoys me the most is when I meet people who make a lot of money, but they don't know how to spend it. I think buying a nice watch is a good investment.' Girls, next time a man asks you out on a date, be sure to ask him the time.
