Denway, Esprit gain derivatives
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing will launch futures and options based on Denway Motors and Esprit Holdings, enabling investors to hedge their holdings of the underlying stocks or make bets on the direction of their share prices.
Denway and Esprit are members of the Hang Seng Index and will add to the 36 companies that have stock futures listed on the exchange. There are 37 companies with listed stock options at present.
The new derivatives would be available for trading from July 11 and the contract months would be next month, August, September and December, as well as March next year, the stock exchange said in a statement.
The multipliers for the futures contracts will be 2,000 for Denway and 500 for Esprit, while the size of the options contracts will be 2,000 shares for Denway and 500 shares for Esprit, which is equal to one board lot.
