Fans of Chinese culture gathered at the Inter-Continental hotel recently for the presentation of the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage award.

The gala dinner, held on June 10, honoured Annie Wu Suk-ching, who has worked to help promote and preserve Chinese culture.

Guests sipped champagne and mingled during the cocktail reception in the foyer, before the doors to the ballroom opened and they took their seats.

Lo King-man, an adviser to Montblanc for the award, delivered a welcome speech before addresses by Montblanc international director Wolff Heinrichsdorff and guest of honour Fei Fih, the vice-chairman of the Chinese History and Culture Education Foundation for Youth.

A fireworks light-show lit up the stage as Heinrichsdorff and Lo presented Wu with a pure-gold, limited-edition Montblanc Patron of Arts 2005 fountain pen. She also received Euro15,000 (HK$141,962), which she donated to the China Tibetan Children's Health and Education Fund.

Wu gave a short acceptance speech before guests tucked into the dinner.

Singer Priscilla Leung Siu-Wai serenaded the crowd throughout the meal.

Guests included Angie Mastroylannis, Christina Hellmann, Takako Nishizaki, Klaus Heymann, Dennis Wong Chun-Tak, Reggie Li Siu-ting, Aron Harilela, Bonnie Gokson and Rita Fan Tsui Lai-tai.
