In-form Super Ball is the key to $23m Triple Trio

Punters are off to a perfect end to the race season as more than $9 million has been accumulated for the Triple Trio pool for tomorrow night's Happy Valley meeting.

The Jockey Club estimates if there is only one $10 winning unit for the TT, the winner could bag up to $23 million.

The mighty jackpot means there is plenty to get excited about and Almond Lee Yee-tat and Brett Prebble are the team to follow in the middle pin.

They can assist the punters in the pursuit of winning millions with Super Ball, who stands out as top banker material.

There is little doubt Super Ball would have beaten Glory Years last time over the minimum trip at Happy Valley.

He was caught three-wide for most of the journey but stuck on gamely in defeat.

This time, he has drawn nicely in gate four and should have every chance to add to his tally.

Glory Years appreciated slightly more patient tactics when winning by a short head and now that he has actually put his head in front, must be given a good chance to win again.

Excellent Boy made a positive impression on local debut down the Sha Tin straight and should benefit from the step up to 1,200 metres. He will be fitter this time, but will need an ounce of luck from a wide gate.

Superb should relish the move up in distance and his form at the city venue is sound enough to warrant respect, while Choice And Chance finished fifth to Glory Years and has minor place claims.

The best option for a banker in the opening leg is probably Freebird, who is incidentally still a maiden after 28 starts. Nonetheless, he has drawn well in gate two and should prove hard to keep out of the frame.

Globe River is holding his form quite well without winning but must be considered a decent chance to figure in the finish. Fortune Warrior (gate 11) and Triumph (gate 12) are also in good form, but the pair will need solid rides from poor draws.

A good case can be made for Care Free Prince, who finished runner-up last time and is competitively weighted. He has drawn perfectly in gate one and must be added to the shortlist.

The logical choice for a banker in the final leg is Fortune Boy, who has won and has placed twice from his last four attempts over the Valley mile. He will get the run of the race from dream gate one.

Three-time course and distance winner Phoenix Fortune cannot be denied a top chance to score again.

Sixty Seconds caught the eye in a couple of barrier trials since joining Caspar Fownes and given his overall record over the course and distance, he must be kept safe.

Prince Golf is well handicapped to prove competitive and should appreciate the move back to the city course, while Country Boy is likely to be racing on the speed and can fill a minor place.

Last-start winner Daneman Hill is drawn perfectly in gate one and will have a top chance to make every post a winner in the third event, as he did over 1,200 metres at this course on June 8.

Supreme Star remains in good form and has solid claims over his pet course and distance, while the way Awesome Eagle flew home over this trip on the all-weather surface last time was most encouraging.

Lucky Trio showed marginal improvement last time and based on his latest performance, he should be added to the list of chances.
