3 arrested over farmers' deaths

Three suspects sought in connection with the deaths of farmers protesting against land seizures by the Dingzhou city government this month have been arrested in Shenyang .

Two of the men were arrested on Thursday, the day after they checked into a hotel, while the third was detained on Friday, the Shenyang Evening Post reported.

The newspaper named the three as Tan Chunsheng , Wong Chaoquan and Zhao Wei. They are aged between 20 and 30.

A spokesman for the Shenyang Public Security Bureau said the three were accused of mobilising 200 to 300 armed men to drive farmers off their land on June 11. Six farmers died.
