Toby tries to save mermaid and her family from danger

John Millen

This is a light-hearted tale to be read when you are in the mood for something entertaining.

Young Toby was abandoned at a seaside hotel when he was a few days old and no one knows his true identity. He has been brought up by the hotel staff, and, now that he is old enough to be useful, he is used as an unpaid servant by the hotel's greedy manager.

One day, Toby meets a mermaid swimming in the sea and she takes him home to meet her parents.

Toby becomes friends with the merfolk and when their home is threatened he smuggles them into the hotel as wheelchair bound guests.

The eccentric behaviour of the hotel's new 'guests' leads to all sorts of hilarious adventures before the plot comes together in the final pages.

The Fish In Room 11 is a humorous and silly tale that blows along like a breath of bracing sea air.
