Tomorrow, 10pm, One-fifth

His twisted productions that combine tribal, progressive and techno sounds have become staples on the set lists of top DJs throughout the world, but Wen-kai Ying is known as much for his quality sets behind the turntables as his studio work.

Kai, one half of the Chris and Kai duo signed to the Yoshitoshi label run by electronic music icons Deep Dish, has made quite a name for himself in his home town of New York and is stopping over in Hong Kong again tomorrow night as part of the Yoshitoshi Asia Tour 2005.

Along with partner Christopher Ruskis, Kai has been pushing a sound based more on variety and range, blurring the lines between the many genres of house and techno music. Apart from Yoshitoshi, their productions have also been released on respected dance labels including Hooj Tunes and Alternative Route.

Supporting Kai tomorrow night will be fellow New Yorker Raji K, a 10-year veteran of the Big Apple's club scene. Raji is probably better known in Asia for his residencies at renowned Tokyo clubs the Liquid Room and Womb, where he was responsible for popularising progressive house and bringing over A-list DJs such as Sasha, Danny Howells and Sander Kleinenberg for their first appearances in Japan.
