THE NEW PARTY'S 10-POINT PROPOSAL

The New Party suggests that taekwondo events for the 2008 Olympic Games be held in Taiwan


It will set up a service centre for Taiwanese businessmen that will stay in frequent contact with a similar body to be established by the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO)


It will gather and share information on East China Sea sovereignty issues with the TAO


Taiwanese fruit exports to the mainland should be promoted by expanding the number of varieties that qualify for a zero-tariff regime, and urges the mainland to further simplify customs and quarantine procedures


The mainland should open more agricultural experimental zones to Taiwanese farmers


In order to facilitate exchanges on science and technology, both sides should work together to agree on common terminology and standards


The mainland should increase the number of universities able to offer courses to Taiwanese students


The mainland should recognise Taiwanese students' qualifications


Both sides should look at ways to improve regular ferry services between Quemoy and Matsu on the Taiwanese side, and Xiamen and Mawei on the mainland side


The mainland side agrees to simplify entry and exit control measures for Taiwanese
