Top Tunes: mainstream music

No. I've never tried to learn because I am not very interested in music. I'm more interested in art. When I listen to Chinese orchestra music at school, I find that I enjoy it. Maybe one day, when I develop more interest, I will give it a try. But in the meantime, I would rather concentrate on my artwork.

Age: 14

Top Tunes: Jacky Cheung Hok-yau's songs

No, because I am not very interested in them. It's not that I see them as being

old-fashioned, but I think the instruments would be very difficult to play, not to mention master. The yangqin would be particularly difficult. Every time I look at it, I doubt I would ever be able to strike a tune on it. I have a lot of admiration for people who can play such a complicated instrument.

Top Tunes: Kelly Chan's songs

No, because I like western music. I play the piano. I don't think Chinese orchestra music is out of date. Western music and Chinese music are unique in their own way. Chinese musical instruments seem difficult to play, and I'm not sure if I would be interested in learning them. Chinese music is very different from western music and I've been greatly influenced by western culture.

Hung Chak-for

Age: 14

Top Tunes: Classical music, preferably old Chinese classics

No. Chinese musical instruments require a lot of practice before you can master them. The instruments make a complex sound. I play the piano. I think it's better to listen to Chinese orchestra music than western music because it is unique. Chinese orchestra music is more diverse than that of western orchestras and there is much more variety.

Lam Cheuk-wing

Age:12

Top Tunes: Bee Gees' music

No, I've never been exposed to this kind of music, although I don't think it's out of date. The sounds that come from these instruments is beautiful and relaxing I know how to play the piano and like it very much. If I have a chance in future, I would love to give a Chinese instrument a try, although it would be difficult to learn. For now, I am happy just playing the piano.
