Warning on refrigerators

People have been warned against maintaining refrigerators themselves after the Consumer Council found that none of the 11 models it tested complied with international safety standards.

The chairman of the council's publicity and community relations committee, Matthew Ng, said the machines had insufficient electrical protection against accidental contact and flammability. 'You should not even change the light bulb in the refrigerator by yourself because you may touch the metal areas and risk an electrical shock.'
