School marks centenary with education past and present

Students stepped back in time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Sacred Heart Canossian College of Commerce.

The Caine Road institution served up a slice of history for visitors with a walk-through exhibition of Canossian education from 1905 to 2005 on two open days earlier this month.

'Through this memorable exhibition, we hope to present to the public a college with a rich historical background,' said Lata Prakash, head of the Use of English Department at the school.

'Our school provides holistic education, business education, work-related experience, community service and numerous opportunities for whole person development.

'By promoting these key values, we can strengthen the bond between teachers and students.'

Hundreds of visitors enjoyed the booths where students displayed their work at the exhibition. There were also interactive games, competitions and project displays.

'All of the exhibits reflected the immense effort and enthusiasm of our students,' said Michelle Wong, a student reporter at the school.

'Course presentations were organised on every floor, and we were delighted to see that many students from other schools were visiting our college.'

Reverend Father Michael Yeung, chief executive of Caritas Hong Kong, was the guest-of-honour for the annual graduation ceremony, held at the college in advance of the open days.
