In the article 'Wife hopes reporter goes free this week' on page 3 of the Sunday Morning Post yesterday it was stated that Mary Lau Man-yee was cautiously optimistic that her husband Ching Cheong would be freed from detention on the mainland on Saturday July 30. This was incorrect and the result of a problem in the editing process. Ms Lau has asked us to point out that she did not specify a date for her hopes to be realised, that there had been no concrete developments in his case and that she was still awaiting news.
