SUMMER BALLET COMPETITION


The Hong Kong Ballet Group is organising the 4th Hong Kong Young Ballet Stars Award this summer.


Awards are given to Hong Kong and Macau residents aged 6-25. The theme of this year's competition is 'Variations of Red & White', with solo performances taken from classical ballet pieces. There will also be a choreography competition.


The semi-finals will be held at Sheung Wan Civic Centre from tomorrow to Saturday at 9.30am, 1.30pm and 6.45pm. The finals, presided over by three international judges, will be held at Hong Kong City Concert Hall on August 6 at 1.30pm and 7pm.


Tickets are $20 for the semi-finals and from $50-$80 for the finals. Reservations from Urbtix on 2734 9009.


WAN CHAI READING EXHIBITION


The Cultural and Leisure Services Committee of Wan Chai District Council and the Hong Kong Arts Centre are co-hosting an exhibition aimed at promoting reading.


Entitled 'New - Reading - Space', the programme is also designed to highlight cultural aspects of Wan Chai, including its architecture and local lifestyles.


Exhibits and works of art are on display at five venues around Wan Chai. Renowned artists such as Ho Siu Kee, Gary Chang, William Lim, Douglas Young and Craig Au Yeung have contributed works.
