Rescued from the rubble

Rescuers carry a survivor from the ruins of a three-storey building that collapsed in the Guangdong town of Yingde, killing five people and injuring another nine. Several trapped workers used their mobile phones to alert police. Officials said the collapse was 'natural' because the 300 square metre building was constructed in the 1970s. The building was being renovated and had been due to reopen in a week. Witnesses said the building was reduced to rubble in less than five seconds. 'Dust spread everywhere for almost 30 minutes. I couldn't see anything on the street,' one trader said.
