The publicity material for your latest show - featuring the 20-plus cast each holding up a Chinese character, making a love message - looks pretty fun and wacky. Is that what Love With No Heading is about?
FM Theatre Power actor Fung Sai-kuen:
'With this drama, we want to share and discuss love with the audience. We'll be adopting the 'theatre sport' technique to
make our show more interesting and surprising.
'We'll use games and different theatrical styles to interpret the many aspects of love: the happy aspect, the surprise element, the romance. In one sketch, for instance, we'll tell a love story through a Canto-pop medley; in another we'll use Cantonese opera music.
'One important aspect of theatre sport is to get the audience involved. So, one part of the show is based on improvisation. For instance, we'll get someone in the audience to start a love story, and we'll act it out on stage. Different audience members will be invited to take part in writing this story, so if you don't like the way the story is going, just change it.
'This production has more to do with exploring and experimenting with the different theatrical methods to tell a story than the story itself.'
