Style secrets of the hip and fashionable

PR and marketing consultant

Wardrobe staple?

My staples change all the time, depending on my mood and the season. In summer, I like tank tops and kaftans from Tabla. In autumn, Thomas Pink, Dolce & Gabbana and Alain Figuret white button-down shirts with cuffs. I've recently discovered True Religion jeans.

What do you always wear?

A watch. During the week I wear a Chaumet khesis or Bulgari. On the weekends, I prefer a Swatch or Nike waterproof watch.

Fashion no-nos?

Dressing head to toe in a single brand. Girls, please add some more personality or creativity to your look.

Handbag pick for this season?

For autumn, Hogan has a wonderful suede-fringed bag. Fendi's Selleria handbags can be worn year after year. Seasonless handbags are classic and elegant. I'm looking for a crocodile clutch in beige with vintage jewels.

Must-have accessory?

I'm a gadget geek, so my must-have accessory is my Sony PDA. It stores all my phone numbers, favourite restaurants and hotels, and birthdays and anniversaries. I would be lost without it.

Favourite shoe designer?

For beauty, Chloe, Christian Dior, Giuseppe Zanotti, Dolce & Gabbana, Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo. For comfort, Nike, Adidas, Birkenstocks and flip-flops.

Most cherished fashion item?

A watch my mother gave me for my university graduation.

Who'd design your Oscars dress?

I'm always inspired by new looks so it would be either Monique Lhuillier or Angel Sanchez.

Style icon?

Cate Blanchett looks great casual and on the red carpet. Great style comes from inside: happy, healthy and confident shine.

Most expensive fashion item?

They've all depreciated in value.

Your fashion style?

Mostly sporty and casual with feminine elements.

Boho or ladylike?

If given just those choices, I think ladylike, but really neither.

Flats or stilettos?

High-end or high street?

Both. In Hong Kong I like Joyce, Lane Crawford or the little boutiques around Times Square/Lee Gardens. I like to do most of my shopping overseas.

Fashion disaster?

I once went to my mother-in-law's anniversary party wearing a low-back dress with my bra exposed. I forgot to check before I left the house.

Favourite local designer?

Dorian Ho and Barney Cheng. Dorian has ready-to-wear dresses that are like beautiful dreams. I think his inspiration is from glamorous eras of the past. His beading and details are special. They're also easy and flattering to wear. Barney does the best made-to-measure designs with the client's personality in mind.
