Lady Uptempo clinched the women's Nike Youth Basketball League title by a five-point margin after two tightly fought contests with Lady Flight.

Uptempo's Chan Chun-lai, a Hong Kong junior team member, was named the tournament's Most

Valuable Player.

Magic Hung scored five three-point shots for the champions in the two-leg title decider.

Uptempo won the first match 63-53 on Thursday, and took the crown despite Flight's 55-50 victory in the second leg on Friday.

'I thought our teamwork was excellent,' said Uptempo coach Hui Shi-ming, who won his first Nike League title at the seventh attempt. 'Everybody was scoring points. I think Magic Hung showed her experience, and her skills tied the team together.'

Hung, playing in the Nike League for the last time, said victory had not come easily.

'We lost two games in the regular season leading up to the finals while Lady Flight won all their games. They were very confident,' she said.

'We knew it would be difficult. But the whole team was focused. For me it is a great way to finish.'
