CLASSIC MUSICAL COMES TO HK

The Pikkari Theatre from Japan will present a classic musical, Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves, this week.

Featuring huge puppets, colourful costumes and vibrant music, the story revolves around Ali Baba who accidentally discovers the magic cave where Abdul and his band of 40 thieves hid their stolen treasure.

The performance will be staged today and tomorrow at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre's Grand Theatre at 3pm and 7.30pm, and on Sunday at 7.30pm at Yuen Long Theatre. The opening show will be performed in Japanese with Chinese and English subtitles. The other shows are in Cantonese with English subtitles.

INDIE BAND PERFORMANCE

A number of indie bands will perform on Sunday at 6pm in Multi-Purpose Room B, 4/F Amenities Building of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

The bands include Audio Traffic, Curling for Them, Dark Vampire, Hardpack, Nothing None, Shakpi and ZoundZ.

Tickets, at $60 and $50 (CityU members), include a free demonstration CD of the performing bands. Tickets are available from President Piano and Trinity Records Hong Kong in Mongkok and Della Collection in Kwai Fong. For more details, e-mail [email protected].
