City University (CityU) will host a public seminar later this week to demonstrate a simple safety device to stop aluminium windows from falling from high-rise buildings.

Co-designed by Ralph Ip Wai-lam and Michael Hung Yau-yan, of CityU's Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management, the device consists of a stainless steel chain bolted to the window and frame. It is easy to install, cheap and unobtrusive.

The seminar, conducted in Cantonese, will be held from 10.30am till noon on Thursday at the Tat Chee Avenue campus. Only 100 seats are available.
