Licence delay has Fringe benefits

It seems the Fringe Club's delay in renewing its liquor licence has affected its upstairs neighbours too.

As of last week, the Fringe Club has been dry after their booze papers expired. Since they share the same licence, M at the Fringe has also been forced to go BYO while they wait like characters in a Beckett play for the arrival of their new licence.

According to M, the new application was delayed pending alterations to the club's facilities to meet current licensing requirements. 'It came as a big surprise to us,' said manager Espen Harbitz. 'Hopefully, it will be resolved in a couple of weeks. We have our fingers crossed.'

Until then, patrons are welcome to bring in their own beverages, with no corkage fee. As owner Michelle Garnaut jokingly remarked: 'Make the most of it while it lasts.'

Now, perhaps, Cityseen can actually afford to dine there.
