An elderly swimmer drowned  at Lido Beach in Tsuen Wan yesterday morning.

Cheuk Shing, 75, was found floating about  30 metres off the beach just after 7am. A Marine Police launch and a fireboat were despatched after a caller to 999 alerted them. The unconscious man was  taken to Yan Chai Hospital where he was declared dead.

His belongings were found on the beach.

Lido Beach is not a gazetted beach so no lifeguard was on duty, a Leisure and Cultural Services Department spokesman said.
