The Associated Press story on Tiger Woods (Woods conquers world again, August 23) contains an error in reporting. The report states that victory in the WGC-NEC Invitational event was Woods's 45th career win. This figure comes from a one-eyed American perspective on world sport (remember this is the country that bills events featuring only American teams as world championships). In fact, Woods has won 45 official US PGA Tour events, including majors and WGC tournaments. But the figure does not include events Woods has won on the European, Japan and Asian Tours.

If you add these the number is over 50 and surpasses 60 if non-official tournaments like the Target World Challenge (Woods's own event) and the Grand Slam of Golf, which features the winners of the four majors, are included.
