Even if we acquire knowledge every day, there is always more to learn. We can learn a lot by reading books. Unfortunately, in India 70 per cent of the books are textbooks. But in western countries, there's more fiction, novels and other books to choose from.

Famous Indian writer Mulk Raj Anand was once asked about the lack of interest in reading. He said India had a tradition of verbally communicating knowledge from one generation to another.

Even today, teaching is based on memorising notes and lectures. Reading is a good habit. It's also fun.

Thanks for your letter, Shaheen. I hope that you've had the chance to read a lot of books this summer. If you have come across a book that you enjoyed, let us know about it.

As I'm sure you know, there is a book review page in the Young Post every Thursday. You can send in your own book reviews for publication. You should write about 250 to 300 words about the book, and don't forget to include the full title of the book and the author.

If music is more your thing, we will also be publishing students music reviews every Friday beginning next month.

Get involved and be part of the Young Post community.
