HK foreign reserves edge higher to US$122b

Hong Kong's foreign-currency reserves amounted to US$122.3 billion at the end of last month, up just 0.3 per cent from July, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said yesterday. The latest figures made Hong Kong the seventh-largest holder of foreign-currency reserves after Japan, the mainland, Taiwan, South Korea, Russia and India.

Cofco lifts net 72pc

Cofco International reported a 72.65 per cent increase in interim profit to $203.98 million as turnover rose 5.21 per cent to $7.86 billion. The food and beverage company booked $28.63 million in profit from associate firms, against $976,000 previously.
