Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen are setting the pace in the Bundesliga, and they rate as two of the best away bets on the weekend.

Bayern are banker material at Nurnberg (HKJC match no. SAT 15), who have taken one point from three games and scored only once. Werder rate highly away to Kaiserslautern (SAT 11), who have beaten only two promoted sides and have let in five goals in those matches.

Hamburg also rate well for their trip to Mainz (SAT 13), the only Bundesliga team without a point. The best home bet in the Bundesliga are Hertha Berlin, who host Wolfsburg (SUN 26).

Barcelona are a home banker against Mallorca (SUN 35) in the Primera Liga, but for those who don't like their odds so short, the next-best option is Betis at home to Osasuna (SAT 71). Betis won seven out of 10 at home to bottom-half teams last season. Villarreal's strong home record gives them the edge over Sevilla (SUN 39), who might struggle to find the goals to repeat last season's good away form, while the best-value home bet are Getafe, whose home form was excellent last season, against Bilbao (SUN 36).

Messina rate as top-notch value in their home clash with Fiorentina (SUN 11) in Serie A. Messina looked unlucky in their 1-0 defeat at Lazio and are hard to oppose. Milan are the bankers in Italy, but there are more good odds-against chances with Chievo and Udinese.

The French form still does not look reliable, so the fact that Rennes and Marseille rate as the best home and away chances may not amount to much.

Best homes: Stuttgart, Hertha, Villarreal, Real Betis, Barcelona, Getafe, Chievo, Messina, Milan, Rennes.

Best aways: Bayern Munich, Hamburg, Werder Bremen, Espanyol, Inter Milan, Udinese, Marseille.

Low goals: Nurnberg v Bayern, Kaiserslautern v Werder Bremen, Malaga v Espanyol, Palermo v Inter, Roma v Udinese, Sochaux v Marseille.
