ACNielsen's media index found little change in reader preferences between 2003 and 2004. Last year, Oriental Daily News (ODN) dominated local newspaper readers with a 32 per cent market share.

Rival Apple Daily was the only other publication in double digits at 25 per cent.

Ming Pao was in third place with a 6 per cent share, followed by The Sun with 5 per cent. The South China Morning Post accounted for 5 per cent. Sunday Morning Post readers made up 3 per cent. This put it on par with Sing Tao Daily and Hong Kong Economic Times.
