'Makeup brushes are a must-have. Best to start with is a foundation brush, to give lighter coverage. Next is an eyebrow brush. Even if you've had your brows shaped, a good one gives better contour and picks up your face.
'An eye shadow brush should be a medium size. Everyone wants to use the same brush for eye colour, so you need something big enough for easy blending.
'An eyeliner brush is important because we don't use pencils any more. They can be too harsh. Pick up the colour with the liner brush and use it to outline the eyes.
'A blush brush should be angled (there are a few in the stores), so you can create contour depending on your face shape. Don't use one as big as a powder brush or you won't be able to define your cheeks very well.
'A lip brush allows you to paint on colour. The tip should be pointed like a calligraphy pen.
'The soft powder brush is the biggest and should be rounded. All brushes should be gentle.'
