Floating Jumbo revamp worth the wait

Thanks to Fortune magazine's 75th anniversary party on Friday night, CitySeen got a chance to see the renovations the Cafe Deco Group has done to the top deck of the old Jumbo Floating restaurant. Although the event only used two-thirds of the space, owner Martin Allies (pictured) gave us a sneak peek at the rest. All we can say is that when the soon-to-be-launched restaurant opens, it will be awesome and well worth travelling to Aberdeen. At the party, we also learned from Elite Concept boss Paul Hsu that the space formerly occupied by Kokage will soon become a continental eatery to be called the One-Fifth Grill. However, what really impressed us was a Laos-born woman who runs the Cambodian children's organisation that was the beneficiary of the event. In fact, Boualaphet Chounthavong may have to attend an even more ritzy event next month. You see, the good doctor is a nominee for this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Now, that's status!
