Watch your choice of words around Joyce Ma (left). The queen bee of the Joyce fashion empire was all gushing and enthusiastic as she led journalists around her new 16,000 sq ft space in Central on Saturday afternoon. That is, until CitySeen asked her about the competition from other 'department stores' in the neighbourhood and what, in particular, would make her space so special.

It was at this point that the upbeat mood abruptly turned sour. 'Joyce has never been just a department store, we are a boutique!' she snapped, 'and you can use your eyes to see how we have interpreted the store.' Golly jeez, Ma'am. We're just so sorry to have denigrated and offended your little shop by hurling such a blasphemous insult your way. Next time, we'll be super-extra careful with our retail semantics.
