You may know Luciano Pavarotti is performing in Hong Kong on December 2. But did you hear who the big tenor wants as his personal guest at the concert? None other than Jiang Zemin .

A spokesman for promoter Wolfman Jack Entertainment confirmed the former leader was on Pavarotti's  VIP list.

'The friendship between Pavarotti and Mr Jiang began some years ago when they had dinner together after Pavarotti's concert in Beijing's Forbidden City. The former leader admires Pavarotti's music and we are eagerly waiting for his news from Beijing.'

Invitations have also gone out to Bono, Dustin Hoffman and Robin Gibb.

If he comes, we wonder if the former president  will bring his erhu for a duet.
