Mubtaker

Runner-up in this two years ago and has returned to his best this season. Will need to step up another gear but sure to give everything.

Westerner

Europe's top stayer with 11 wins, eight seconds and two thirds from 26 starts. He ran a gallant 2?-length third to Warrsan in the G1 Grosser Volkswagen Preis von Baden last time out on September 4 before snatching victory in the Gold Cup at York on June 16. Would need the going to become very heavy to have a chance over this trip and would be suited by a strong gallop.

Cherry Mix

Brilliant runner-up in this last year behind Bago after landing a Group Two at Deauville. Primed for another big run.

Warrsan

Failed in his bid to win a third consecutive Coronation Cup at Epsom on June 3, but has bounced back and landed September's G1 Grosser Volkswagen Preis von Baden.

Bago

Won this in brilliant style a year ago but not at his best this season. Signs of return to form last time to finish a creditable third to Azamour in the King George on July 23. Will be at his peak here.

Norse Dancer

Continues to run well in Group One company but big-race success still eludes him. Best run was when close second to Azamour in the King George.

Shirocco

Last year's German Derby winner who landed two G1s in Italy at the end of last term. Needed the run after a long absence in the Prix Foy on September 11 when he finished a 4?-length third to Pride.

Pride

Improving and has won G2 events on her last two starts including the Prix Foy. Needs to step up here.

Samando

Won the G2 Prix de Royallieu a year ago. Ran a 2?-length fourth when tackling top company in the G1 Grosser Volkswagen Preis von Baden Germany latest.

Voltmeter

Only win has come in a minor race and likely to be used to ensure a fast gallop for his stablemate Westerner.

Shawanda

Scored five wins in a row since her second start, the Irish Oaks winner produced another superb display to land the Prix Vermeille on September 11 last time out. Will give the colts a fight.

Scorpion

Narrowly beaten in the Irish Derby in June before destroying G1 rivals in the Grand Prix de Paris and the St Leger in July and September. On the upgrade.

Motivator

Very easy winner of the Derby at Epsom early June, and his latest narrow defeats have come over shorter distances. Back over best trip, could redeem reputation.

Hurricane Run

Should have won the French Derby on June 5, and made amends in the Irish version three weeks later. Easy winner on his prep race for this last time out and looks the one they have to beat.

Windya

Supplemented at a late stage to act as a pacemaker for Shawanda. A recent winner in the French provinces but unlikely to have the quality needed to make an impression.
