MASTER tactician Dick Bennetts, West Surrey Racing's successful team manager, is gunning for his third Macau Grand Prix title in 10 years - hoping for a win to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Ayrton Senna's triumph in 1983.

Brazilian Senna's Macau win served as a launching pad to Formula One where he has since claimed three world titles.

''We won our first Macau Grand Prix with Senna in 1983 and hopefully we can repeat it again in 1993. I think we have the team to do it again,'' said Bennetts, architect behind the most successful team in British F3 history. His other Macau victory came in 1985 when Brazilian Mauricio Gugelmin triumphed.

Bennetts and WSR have united with sponsor Mobil 1, and the New Zealander, who has helped catapult the careers of numerous drivers into the forefront of Formula One - including Mika Hakkinen and Rubens Barrichello - is confident his team will win the 40thedition of the race.

Mobil, hugely successful at last year's Macau Grand Prix with a one-two-three finish in the Guia race, will mount a two-car challenge in their first attempt in the premier race.

The sponsors have recruited two top-level drivers who will be making their debut in Macau, Belgian Marc Goossens, 23, third in this season's British F3 championship, and rising Spanish star Pedro Martinez de la Rosa, 22, who finished sixth in the same series. Both drivers will be in Dallara 393s.

''The competition in Macau is always tough. But we have a very good engine and chassis and we hope the package will win it for us,'' said Bennetts.
