Avoid hiking alone

Never leave a team member behind

Don't deviate from maintained paths or make detours

Don't exceed your physical limits

If you think you're lost, seek help and don't go any further

Form a hiking group of at least four

Bring essentials: water, food, a first-aid kit, a whistle, a mobile phone with a spare battery, a map, a compass, a radio and adequate clothing

Leave details like the planned route, participants and their mobile telephone numbers with a person not participating in the journey

At least one member should stay with an injured hiker while the others seek help
