Thought-provoking comedy

As the popular political comedy series East Wing, West Wing came to an end this summer, Zuni Icosahedron returns with a new series, Strange Strange Hong Kong.

The first episode - The Agent - focuses on the local property market and related issues.

Creator and director Mathias Woo Yan-wai leads the audience through an absurd social situation, with the story revolving around two lovers, played by Carson Chung Ka-shing and Tanya Chan Shuk-chong, who work for a property agency.

Unlike the East Wing, West Wing series which was co-directed by Woo and Edward Lam Yik-wah, The Agent is Woo's solo work and the reflection of his opinions, not just on the property developers who exploit the poor, but also on the West Kowloon project, Hong Kong Disneyland, the proposed Ghost City on Cheung Chau island and the city's ever changing landscapes.

The dialogue between a taxi driver (played by Edgar Hung Yik-kai) and a bus driver (played by Dick Wong Tai-fai) which make fun of the names of new 'luxurious' housing estates and the section on radio drama are hilarious.

The new series no longer focuses on Zuni's popular actor Cedric Chan Ho-fung. Other cast members, which include David Yeung Wing-tak, Yip Ying-fong and Ng Ka-man play more central roles.

Due to popular demand, extra shows have been added from October 21 to 24 at the Arts Centre's Shouson Theatre. Tickets are $199/$119 for adults, and $100/$60 for full-time students, from Urbtix.
