detective faces charge of perverting justice

A detective will appear in Kowloon City Court today after the ICAC accused him of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Wai Ka-ming, 37, was charged along with pub operator Chak Tsan-wing and Gary Lam Wai-ho. Chak had pleaded guilty earlier, while Lam failed to appear in court. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

tatami fans recalled for potentially serious fault

Mitsubishi has warned some of its Tatami fans contain a potentially dangerous fault - a plastic cover that could cause wiring damage. Consumers are being asked to take them to service centres for inspection and replacement by November 7. The fans affected are models R12-ZF (with serial numbers 30300001-30504500), R12-ZG (serial numbers 31200001-31200020 and 40200001-40602293) and R12-ZH (serial numbers 50500001-50500500).

jail for entry fraud

Businessman Chu Kim-sing, 46, was jailed for five months by a Sha Tin magistrate for helping a mainland woman use another person's travel document to enter Hong Kong. The woman was sentenced to four months' jail for making false representations.

crash victims in coma

A motorcyclist, 24, and his female passenger, 25, were in comas after their motorbike crashed into a stationary maintenance truck on the Tsing Kwai Highway outside Modern Terminals.

van strikes nurse

A 26-year-old nurse was fighting for her life in hospital after being knocked down by a van in the car park of Hong Kong Eye Hospital in Argyle Street, Kowloon City, as she walked to her vehicle.
