Make a splash

Hongkongers are able to take to the beach for a sizeable part of the year. However, endless frolicking in the water can become a little humdrum after a while - there's only so much fun to be had with a Lilo, particularly for children.

The Astone Ocean Scooter could change all that. Instead of having your children nagging you for a ride on a jet ski, you could have the Ocean Scooter FX ready and waiting for them.

It is made for children and has their safety needs in mind. Completely inflatable and battery operated, it can carry a child or anyone else weighing up to 75kg.

You needn't worry if your offspring are speed demons at heart because the scooter has a maximum speed of 4km/h. When inflated, it looks like it could be a potential millstone to lug around, but it packs away neatly in a handy carrier bag, which comes with the scooter. The batteries last up to an hour before they need recharging with a power adaptor, which is also provided.

Created by local designer Bill Cheung, the scooter is priced at $1,980 and is available from the Design Gallery, 1/F, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, tel: 2584 4146.
