It's a good thing Jan Kusmirek knows how to relax and stay calm. Before arriving in Hong Kong, the aromatherapist and Elemis product creator was stranded for hours at Amsterdam's airport and his airline lost his luggage.

The health expert is in town to host workshops at the Frederique Academy and promote his Fragrant Earth line of products.

'I've been studying aromatherapy for 25 years, but the work I was in before gave me a lot of stress,' Kusmirek says. 'Although I studied herbal medicine for years, I never used the knowledge to de-stress myself. Gradually, I started to feel very depressed. The moment of enlightenment came on a business trip to Italy. I was carrying some essential oil and I decided to put a few drops in my bath. The smell from the water really calmed me and the whole night I felt relaxed. I realised aromatherapy can cure people's health on a psychological level. I no longer had my panic attacks and that's when I quit my old job.'
