Police probe suspected dog slaughtering case

Updated at 6.16pm: Police on Monday appealed to the public for information on a suspected dog slaughtering case uncovered in Tsing Yi earlier this month.

A spokesman said officers discovered a hut, alleged to be a dog slaughterhouse, in Tsing Yi on February 9. It was located on a hillside behind Cheung Hang Estate, Liu To Road.

In the hut, they found eight dogs, a bird and a rabbit held in cages. But no suspects were found at the time, he added.

The animals were then taken to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.

The spokesman said police needed further details on the case as no witnesses had yet come forward .
