Sport can bring people together and cheer them up

There were some touching moments at my school's athletic meet held at Yuen Long Stadium recently. A teacher who was in charge of the cheering team cried because she was not happy with the cheerleaders' performance. This reminded me that we should work hard and not disappoint our teachers.

There was another moving moment when all our teachers and schoolmates stood up and cheered our athletes who did very well in the medley relays. It showed us sport can unite people. Students who don't take part in sports events should at least watch them.

Thanks for your letter Wai-kit. Sport can be a great unifier, as you have discovered.

Sports days are a great opportunity for the whole school to come together. It is a time to take a break from school work and rally together to support your team.

Although the athletes are the stars of the day, the spectators are equally important and their support can make or break an event.

When an athlete knows that they have many people cheering for them, they will do their best.
