Just as well opposites did not attract on fur
with Andrew Sun
Sometimes, you cannot help but get a kick out of ironic synchronicity. On Friday, CitySeen received two invitation e-mails in quick succession with completely opposite agendas. One came from the largest fur auction house in Denmark, Kopenhagen Fur. The mink-makers were in town for a fur exhibition at the Convention and Exhibition Centre and wanted us to lunch with creative director Tom Steiffel-Kristensen, whose lobbying in Europe has made fur cool again for many designers.
Moments later, the second e-mail came through. This time, it was from the SPCA asking us to cover their Say No To Fur protest yesterday afternoon at the World Trade Centre in Causeway Bay. With a parade of pets, animal-lovers were selling T-shirts and raising awareness for the anti-fur cause.
We're happy to report the two events did not turn into WTO, Part Two, with pet lovers and pelt farmers staring each other down.
