An elderly Hong Kong man who was reported missing during a hiking trek in a country park on Monday, has been found, news reports on Tuesday said.

Local radio reported that firemen and police officers discovered the 69-year-old on a slope near Lion Rock Country Park in Wong Tai Sin on Tuesday afternoon.

He had received some head injuries, and was also feeling unwell.

A Government Service helicopter was called in to take him to Eastern Hospital.

The man's daughter made a report to police on Monday that he was missing.

The man had left his home for a hike alone on Monday morning, but had failed to return, local radio reported.

Further details were not available on Tuesday afternoon.

Most search and rescue experts generally advise people against hiking alone in case of an injury or accident. Hiking in threes is considered safer because if a person is injured, a second person can look after him, while the third goes for help.
