All of China is happy after Ang Lee's win at the Oscars, and Andy Lau Tak-wah (right) was one of the first people to rush to congratulate him publicly. But instead of giving all the accolades to Lee (left), who won the best director award for Brokeback Mountain, he said people should be congratulating Lee's wife, who has given her full support to her husband over the years in order for him to achieve his dreams.

'I believe that not only Lee will be happy, but also his family,' he said. 'This is not just his glory, but also his family's.'

Lau said in January, when he met Lee in Hong Kong, that he was once contacted to play Chow Yun-fat's role in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but that never came off. He also said he would not force Lee to give him a role in his next project.

'I don't want him to make a movie with me because of a promise - just to call me if he finds a part suitable for me,' he said.

With Lee's new recognition from Tinseltown, maybe Lau would like to push a little harder on that?
