The design teams for the South China Morning Post and Sunday Morning Post have won two top prizes at the Society for News Design's 27th annual Best of Newspaper Design competition.

The awards recognise the papers as among the best-designed publications in the world.

For the third time in a row, the Sunday Morning Post's the Review section, designed by Troy Dunkley and his team, was singled out for an excellence award in the Entertainment Section Design category.

Technology, and its design team of Solveig Bang, Michael Logan, Wilson Tsang and James Whittle, received an excellence award in the Science/Technology section.

The Society for News Design's Best of Newspaper Design competition is regarded the toughest and most prestigious in the world. The annual competition, started in 1979, attracts entries from general circulation newspapers from around the globe.

This year's overall best designed newspapers, which were chosen from 415 newspapers from 46 countries, were Britain's The Guardian and Poland's Rzeczpospolita.
